Yeah, most of the time. I was with someone for a while - someone I loved - but once that ended, everything else just got more complicated.

[ as in she ended up pregnant, and in prison.]

My family says I put up walls, but for most of my life, it was safer that way.

Princess, we all do that, and some some of us were raised by the finest nannies New England had to offer. We're made of soft stuff, sometimes you need a wall. It's who you let behind it with you that counts.

I had the wall when I needed it, and I guess I kept it up longer than that, too. Being here is like just trying to get by all over again.

You were raised by nannies?

[priorly]

I'm a WASP. Old family, in the sense that dating back to the Mayflower's something we'd consider a flash in the pan. There was a Prior Walter stitched into the Bayeux Tapestry, I'm told.

We don't raise our own young.

[sheriffing]

I can't imagine being raised by the nanny was all that great for you.

[priorly]

Yet most likely better than the alternative. Are we trading stories of woe now? I can't one-up a homeless child.

[sheriffing]

I don't know, I probably would've run from the nanny, too. Homeless teen, I was about fifteen at the time.

Every time I ran as a kid, someone found me.
