There are a couple of trees, but they are slow growing, so taking one that hasn't fallen off the tree is said to be bad luck.
[It's not exactly forbidden, but it's definitely frowned upon on the Islands.]
Sometimes people make sea shell charms shaped like the paopu though, for good luck and protection. A friend of mine was working on one, last I knew.
[Though well, that had been before they had left the Islands… so by now, Kairi has probably finished it.]
